My personal Journey

I was born and raised in the Midwest in Ohio and was always actively involved in group sports growing up, especially tennis. The practice of yoga and mindful meditation has always been a part of my life and offered me a therapeutic release of tension and stress. I decided to leave Ohio in 2014 and took a chance moving across the country to LA after obtaining my Physical Therapy Assistant license.

Working as a Physical Therapy Assistant

I quickly found work in 2015 working as a PTA in a busy outpatient physical therapy clinic in Los Angeles. I would routinely see patients following total or partial joint replacements, patients living with chronic pain, with neurodegenerative conditions, or rehabbing following traumatic accidents. I enjoyed my time with my clients and found that working in physical therapy would often require me to be an empathetic listener and to hold space for patient’s fears and concerns.

My yoga training begins

I enrolled in RYT-200 Yoga Teacher Training in January 2016 through the Yoga Mittra Teacher Training by Yoga Loft in Manhattan Beach, CA. I was guided and supported under the teachings of Suzy Nece, Shelley Williams and Genevieve Pujalet and my foundational training in yoga was vinyasa flow yoga.

Where I taught and practiced

From 2016-2019 I taught Sunday evening restorative yoga at a studio in downtown Manhattan Beach. I also taught vinyasa, slow flow, yin and yoga basics in several studios around the South Bay. In addition, from 2017 to 2019 I regularly taught Chair Yoga in nursing homes in Redondo Beach and Beverly Hills for senior citizens living within the spectrum of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Studying for my Masters Degree

I began studying clinical psychology at Antioch University in 2017. A diverse and eclectic range of psychoanalytic theories influence and impact the type of healer I aspire to be with all my clients. Such theories include Object Relations, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Internal Family Systems, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions Focused, and Attachment Theory - all within the lens of a Trauma Informed Focus seeing the client as the experts on their lives.

Where I currently teach Yoga

I am currently a Yin Yoga teacher in hermosa beach, teaching at LFTD Studios, hosted by Practical Magic Apothecary at 936 Hermosa Avenue, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254. I teach every other Wednesday evening in the open-air studio, taking Covid precautions teaching Yin Yoga wearing a mask with no more than 4 students in session. Class donations for class will benefit a featured social justice nonprofit servicing marginalized populations in need.
